Erected in 1982 as an Apostolic Exarchate and elevated to an eparchy in 1985, the Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of Saint Thomas the Apostle of Detroit is one of two Chaldean Catholic jurisdictions in the United States, covering the eastern and central states from its headquarters in Southfield, Michigan. It celebrates Mass according to the ancient East Syriac liturgical rite and serves as the spiritual home for the Iraqi Christian community that has settled in the greater Detroit area.
