Diocese of Brooklyn
Explore 212 Catholic parishes, updated schedules, and livestream options across the diocese.
The Diocese of Brooklyn was erected in 1853, split from the Diocese of New York to serve the rapidly growing immigrant population on Long Island. After the Diocese of Rockville Centre was split off in 1957, Brooklyn covers only Kings and Queens counties — making it the country's only entirely urban diocese. Its cathedral seat is the Cathedral Basilica of St. James in Downtown Brooklyn, on the site of Long Island's first Catholic parish, founded in 1822. The diocese serves around 209 parishes.
