Diocese of Oakland
Explore 87 Catholic parishes, updated schedules, and livestream options across the diocese.
The Diocese of Oakland was established in 1962 when Pope John XXIII split Alameda and Contra Costa counties from the Archdiocese of San Francisco. It serves 87 parishes across the East Bay, with its cathedral, the Cathedral of Christ the Light on Lake Merritt in Oakland, built to replace the original Saint Francis de Sales Cathedral, which was destroyed in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
